Welcome to the Youth and Community Development Training Initiative (TARP Africa)

Empowering African Youth for Transformation

At the Youth and Community Development Training Initiative, we embark on a transformative journey, serving as a catalyst for change across the African continent. Our core belief centers on empowering dynamic youth to lead the charge in transforming leadership narratives and fostering positive change throughout Africa. We are passionate about nurturing visionary leaders, reshaping leadership narratives, and driving impactful community development.

And that’s why we go by the moniker “TARP Africa” which is short for ‘The African Rebranding Project.’ TARP Africa is an embodiment of our mission and vision, we set out for a rebranding job and Africa is the goal.

Our Journey: From Campus Influence to Registered NGO

Founded initially as a campus influencer group in 2018, our journey has been one of continuous growth and dedication. As our projects expanded and evolved, so did our conviction that meaningful work lay ahead. We enthusiastically volunteered ourselves to effect change in the most innovative ways available to us.

Today, we stand proudly as a registered non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization in Nigeria. We were formally registered in 2023 as the Youth and Community Development Training Initiative (CAC/IT/7063215).

The Power of 'I': Making a Difference in Africa's Story

At TARP Africa, we firmly believe in the power of ‘I’—the message that each individual can make a significant difference in Africa’s narrative. We understand that by cultivating strong individuals, we can build even stronger communities. Innovation is at the heart of all our projects, as we orchestrate vibrant forums that foster generational and multi-stakeholder dialogues and provide transformative training experiences.

Painting the Canvas of Progress: Celebrating Africa's Potential

Together, we paint the canvas of progress, celebrating Africa’s vibrant potential. Yet, our journey doesn’t stop here. With unwavering determination, we tackle the leadership puzzle, unlocking solutions that reshape Nigeria’s and Africa’s destiny. Our previous projects have been centred on young communities within Nigerian tertiary institutions across three states, where we’ve undertaken over ten successful initiatives.

Our Three Pillars: Governance, Inequalities, and Environment Actions

Through our thematic areas of Governance and Development Actions, Gender and Inequalities Actions, and Climate Change and Environmental Actions, we offer innovative programs, collaborative initiatives, and hands-on experiences. These initiatives ignite interests and empower young leaders with the skills, mindset, and tools needed to create a brighter future.

Leadership with Integrity, Empathy, Innovation and Inclusivity

Our focus is on leadership that embodies integrity, empathy, innovation and inclusivity. We are deeply committed investing to reshaping Africa’s trajectory through our transformative actions. Our journey is one of converting potential into action, fostering a network of passionate individuals united by a common purpose: contributing and driving positive change at every level.

Join Us in Our Transformative Mission

We invite you to join us in this transformative mission as we work together to build a continent where inspired youth lead and shape thriving communities. Together, we aim to leave an indelible mark on generations to come by championing a legacy of sustainable progress.
